About Mormonpedia

Mormonpedia is an independent project dedicated to documenting, analyzing, and contextualizing the doctrines, culture, and history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormon Church). It is not affiliated with the LDS Church and aims to provide a transparent, research-friendly space where information is accessible, nuanced, and thoughtfully sourced.

This site was created by Robin Kay, a writer, researcher, and former member of the LDS Church. Robin brings lived experience and a deep commitment to intellectual honesty. They have roots in Utah and a personal understanding of Mormon culture. Robin aims to make Mormonpedia a place where people, regardless of belief, can understand this global religious movement without over-simplification or dogma.

Mormonpedia was inspired by questions Robin encountered from people outside the faith: "What do Mormons really believe?" "Why do people leave?" "Is it just another Christian denomination?" These questions deserve more than either apologetics or caricature, they deserve context. Mormonpedia tries to offer that context with clarity, transparency, and care.

In tone, Mormonpedia is unapologetically human. It reflects Robin’s biases (clearly named), compassion for those still inside the faith, and solidarity with those who’ve left. Articles are written to be informative, and curious. The goal is to lay bare the truth in a religion and culture that claims to put a premium on it: to make the past legible, the present explainable, and the future open for discussion.
